Maharashtra declares public holiday on January 22, day of Ram temple opening

In a significant move, the Maharashtra government has announced that January 22 will be a public holiday to mark the auspicious occasion of the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This decision comes after a persistent request made by BJP leader Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who is also a state Cabinet minister. Initially, there were reservations from the state general administration, citing the absence of any prior instances of public holidays for such events. However, the request was eventually forwarded to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's office for final approval.
